COMMUNITY FACILITIES

With some 20,000 people to be accommodated in Precinct One, a number of education and community facilities are planned at Flinders. Schools are integrated within Neighbourhood Activity Centres and comprise: 2 state primary schools, 1 private primary school and 1 state secondary school, collocated with community and recreational facilities including the sports playing fields, and within walking and cycling distance of residential neighbourhoods. Tertiary education facilities are situated within the Town Centre.

NURTURING FUTURE GENERATIONS

At Flinders, community hubs will be located close to the Neighbourhood Activity Centres, as well as within the Town Centre itself. These hubs are planned to include maternal child and health facilities; youth facilities; early years, kindergarten and child care centres; a library; meeting halls and multi-purpose spaces. Walking and cycling to these community facilities will be actively promoted as a healthy alternative to driving.
